Parish Hike - St. Clement's Episcopal Church
Waimano Valley Trail & Stations of the Cross
Saturday, March 6

1:00 p.m. at the church, or 1:30 p.m. at the trail head

This 2 mile loop hike has an elevation gain of 400 feet, and is listed as a "novice" trail in Stuart Ball's guidebook. It samples a short stretch of a peaceflu, lovely valley. Smooth, reflective water alternates with shallow rapids in a stream along the trail. Lined with strwaberry quava trees and a number of native trees, the trail will give us an opportunity, hopefullyo hear the sweet song of the white-rumped shama.

The Stations of the Cross we will be using have meditations written by Sister Joan Chittister, O.S.B. (Order of St. Benedict), and artwork from a young Kenyan artist. Booklets can be borrowed for the hike, or purchased ($5) to take home. Please sign up with Rev. Michael Barham if you might be joining us for this hike. Join us every Wednesday morning at 10:00 for a service Holy Eucharist and healing service. In a service of healing, we pray for the physical, mental and spiritual needs of members of the Parish and people around the world. Individuals are invited to receive the laying on of hands and anointing with oil as a sign of God's reign come near, and the healing ministry of Christ in which we share.

Second Sunday in Lent ~ February 28, 2010
St. Clement's Episcopal Church

Today’s psalm is full of faith and trust in God. It is a good resource to mark and keep handy for times when it seems that the world is against us. Evil doers, foes, adversaries, false witnesses, and those who speak malice, all will be vanquished by the Lord who is my light and my salvation.

Notice the response to keeping the psalmist safe: “I will offer in his dwelling an oblation (offering) with sounds of great gladness” The psalmist understands that we do not survive difficult times by our own strength and cunning, but by the hand of a loving and caring God.

“What if I had not believed that I should see

the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living?

O tarry and await the Lord’s pleasure; be strong

and he shall comfort your heart;

wait patiently for the Lord.”
